Introduction

Government Taluka library Chaudi, Canacona was established on 23-5-1976. Presently the library is housed on the premises of Canacona Municipal Council on lease. The library collection comprises books in different languages like English, Marathi, Konkani, and Hindi. The total collection of libraries is 20863. The library is accessible to the public of Delem, Mastimol, Sheller, Pansulem, Palolem, Sadolxem, Bhatpal, Partagal, and other neighboring areas.

The library serves the students of 6 High schools, 2 Higher Secondary schools, one college and nearby primary schools, and other Technical and professional institutions for preparing projects/assignments and study purposes. Employees from Govt. Departments, banks, schools, etc., and the general public visit the library for their recreational & informational needs. The total membership to date is 2783.

Library working hours :

Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday 9.30 a.m.to 5.45 p.m.

Public holiday closed.

Library Sections

Reading Section

The Library subscribes to 13 newspapers and 150 periodicals/magazines are provided to the general public and the student Community. Every year around 150 to 200 Diwali issues are made available for the public. Different types of magazines are available for the use of students to enhance their knowledge for their studies and Competitive Exams.

Reference Section

The Reference Section caters to the needs of readers for their research work. This section has 1383 books. All books are arranged in a classified order. Reference sources such as Encyclopedias, Yearbook, General Knowledge, Dictionaries, and subject-wise reference books are available for library users.

Children’s Section

The children’s section has 2440 books of general knowledge, children's magazines, Children’s Encyclopedia, Dictionaries, General knowledge, Storybooks, etc. which attracts many children.

Circulation Section

This Section has 15741 books, 22CDs/DVDs, and 17 maps/globes available for the use of the public. An online catalog facility is available for the users for locating books. The Issuing/returning of books is done manually.
